Air stripping tower
Air stripping removes volatile organic chemicals (such as solvents) from contaminated water by causing them to evaporate.

air stripping. A treatment process used to remove dissolved gases and volatile substances from water. Large volumes of air are bubbled through the water being treated to remove (strip out) the dissolved gases and volatile substances.

air stripping : A treatment system that removes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from contaminated ground water or surface water by forcing an airstream through the water and causing the compounds to evaporate.

packed tower aeration A variation of the air stripping treatment process. Water flows down through packing material, while air flows upward to "strip" VOCs from the water. parts per million A measure of concentration of a dissolved substance.

Physical processes may include air stripping or filtration. Chemical treatment includes coagulation, chlorination, or ozonation.
