coagulants : Chemicals that cause very fine particles to clump together into larger particles. This makes it easier to separate the solids from the water by settling, skimming, draining or filtering.
Cationic and other polymers can also be used as coagulants in water treatment. They are often called coagulant aids used in conjunction with other regular coagulants.
in-line filtration The addition of chemical coagulants directly to the filter inlet pipe. The chemicals are mixed by the flowing water. Flocculation and sedimentation facilities are eliminated.
