Endocrine disruptors
Synthetic chemicals and natural plant compounds that may affect the endocrine system (the communication system of glands, hormones and cellular receptors that control the body's internal functions).

Phthalates have been referred to as endocrine disruptors by some groups, but most phthalates do not interfere with either the estrogen or androgen receptors when tested in laboratory animals.
