Flume: A natural or man-made channel that diverts water.
Fluoridation: The addition of a chemical to increase the concentration of fluoride ions in drinking water to reduce the incidence of tooth decay.

flume A natural or man-made channel that diverts water.
fluorescence The property of absorbing light of a particular wave length and then emitting light of a different color and wave length.

Flume
A sloped channel that is utilized to convey water and is commonly constructed of wood or concrete. Some specialized flumes are used to measure flow (e.g. Parshall flume) by means of a calibrated throat or cross section.

Stream flume located on an intermittent forest stream that is a tributary of Nomini Creek. Flumes are used to monitor water yields from research forested watersheds.

Parshall Flume- Device used to measure the flow of water in an open channel.
Participation Rate- Portion of population participating in a recycling program.

parshall flume. A device used to measure the flow in an open channel. The flume narrows to a throat of fixed dimensions and then expands again.
