Hazardous Air Pollutants
Air pollutants which are not covered by ambient air quality standards but which, as defined in the Clean Air Act, may present a threat of adverse human health effects or adverse environmental effects.

 


Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP's) - air pollutants, as defined by the Clean Air Act, that present a threat to human health and/or the environment. Pollutants include asbestos, beryllium, mercury, benzene, etc.

Hazardous air pollutants-Air pollutants that may reasonably be expected to cause or contribute to irreversible illness or death as defined under the Clean Air Act.

Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) - Chemicals that cause serious health and environmental effects.

National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPS): Emissions standards set by EPA for an air pollutant not covered by NAAQS that may cause an increase in fatalities or in serious, irreversible, or incapacitating illness.
