Under current regulations, landfills are required to have liners and leachate treatment systems to prevent contamination of ground water and surface waters. An industrial landfill disposes of non-hazardous industrial wastes.

cap : A fairly impermeable seal, usually composed of clay-type soil or a combination of clay soil and synthetic liner, which is placed over a landfill during closure.

Patagonia uses organic cotton in its clothing line, uses recycled bottles instead of polyester for its fleece jackets, and bans paper cups and plastic garbage can liners from its offices.
