Environment Margin of exposureMarine mammal

Margin of Safety: Maximum amount of exposure producing no measurable effect in animals (or studied humans) divided by the actual amount of human exposure in a population.

See margin of exposure
mass mean diameter
Diameter of a spherical particle with a mass equal to the mean mass of all the particles in a population.

Margin of Safety-
Metabolism-literally, change. Any process in an organism that produces, changes, or breaks down a compound. Digestion is a process of metabolizing the foods taken into the body.

MARGIN OF SAFETY (MOS)
A representation of the uncertainty of the relationship between pollutant loads and the existing quality of the receiving waterbody. MOS's are a required component of TMDL establishment.

Hazard Assessment: Evaluating the effects of a stressor or determining a margin of safety for an organism by comparing the concentration which causes toxic effects with an estimate of exposure to the organism.

Recommended Maximum Contaminant Level (RMCL): The maximum level of a contaminant in drinking water at which no known or anticipated adverse effect on human health would occur, and that includes an adequate margin of safety.

The maximum level of a contaminant in drinking water at which no known or anticipated adverse effect on human health would occur, and that includes an adequate margin of safety.

Drinking water standards established by the U.S. EPA, but not enforceable by law. SNARLs suggest the level of a containment in drinking water at which adverse health effects would not be anticipated (with a margin of safety).
