Environment Nonpoint sourceNon-point sources

Non-point source: Source of pollution in which wastes are not released at one specific, identifiable point but from a number of points that are spread out and difficult to identify and control. Compare point source.

Non-point source pollution
Pollution that is so general or covers such a wide area that no single, localized source of the pollution can be identified.

Non-point Source
Pollution sources that are diffuse and do not have a single point of origin or are not introduced into a receiving stream from a specific outlet. The pollutants are generally carried off land by storm water runoff.

Non-Point Sources: Diffuse pollution sources (i.e. without a single point of origin or not introduced into a receiving stream from a specific outlet). The pollutants are generally carried off the land by storm water.

Definition (english only)
Diffuse pollution sources (i.e. without a single point of origin or not introduced into a receiving stream from a specific outlet).

Non-point Source: Diffuse, overland runoff containing pollutants. Includes runoff collected in storm drains.
Nymph: Immature form of insects such as stoneflies and mayflies that do not pupate.

Non-point source pollution control practices that involve vegetative cover to reduce erosion and minimize loss of pollutants.
Viscosity
The molecular friction within a fluid that produces flow resistance.

Compare non-point source. pollutant Any substance introduced into the environment that adversely affects the usefulness of a resource. pore space The space between mineral grains in a porous medium.

Mobile Source - (also call non-point source) consist of emissions from on-road and off-road sources.

Vegetative Controls: Non-point source pollution control practices that involve plants (vegetative cover) to reduce erosion and minimize the loss of pollutants.

Methods that have been determined to be the most effective, practical means of preventing or reducing pollution from non-point sources.

Best Management Practice (BMP): Methods that have been determined to be the most effective, practical means of preventing or reducing pollution from non-point sources.

Surface Runoff- Precipitation, snow melt, or irrigation water in excess of what can infiltrate the soil surface and be stored in small surface depressions; a major transporter of non-point source pollutants in rivers, streams, and lakes.

Buffer - An area of vegetation positioned between a waterbody or watercourse and nearby development. Buffers are valuable for slowing the flow of stormwater into adjacent water resources and for retention and filtering of Non-point Source ...

With new technologies and environmental legislation, this type of destruction no longer takes place. More recently, attention has turned to wide spread, "non-point source pollution" effects on tree growth.

Open Sources Pollution sources that emit air contaminants over large geographical areas, primarily in a stationary but non-point source manner. Organic Produce grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or materials.

non-point source Water contaminant that cannot be traced to a specific point of origin, but rather comes from many different non-specific sources. nutrients Essential elements or compounds in the development of living things.
