Specific Yield
The amount of water a unit volume of saturated permeable rock will yield when drained by gravity.

specific yield The ratio of the water drained from a rock under the influence of gravity, or removed by pumping, to the total volume of rock voids or pore space in the drained rock.
specific yield. The quantity of water that a unit volume of saturated permeable rock or soil will yield when drained by gravity. Specific yield may be expressed as a ratio or as a percentage by volume.
Specific Yield: The ratio of the volume of yield of water by gravity drainage from a rock or soil (after being saturated), to the volume of the rock or soil.
