Transfer Station: Facility where solid waste is transferred from collection vehicles to larger trucks or rail cars for longer distance transport.

 


Transfer station
A facility allowing drop-off and consolidation of garbage and a range of recyclable materials.

Transfer Station: site where waste materials are taken and temporarily stored after collection, pending shipment to a disposal site or resource recovery facility. Recycling and some processing may also take place at transfer stations.

Transfer Station: A site or facility that accepts waste for temporary storage or consolidation prior to shipment to a treatment facility.
Transmission: The act, process, or instance of sending or conveying from one person or place to another.

Waste transfer station
a place where rubbish is delivered for sorting before it is buried, burnt or recycled.

Repositories for solid waste, including landfills and combustors intended for permanent containment or destruction of waste materials. Excludes transfer stations and composting facilities.
