trash - waste material that cannot be recycled and reused (synonymous with garbage).

Trash: Material considered worthless or offensive that is thrown away. Generally defined as dry waste material, but in common usage it is a synonym for garbage, rubbish, or refuse.
Trash-to-Energy Plan: Burning trash to produce energy.

Trash Rack. A structural device used to prevent debris from entering a pipe spillway or other hydraulic structure.Underdrain. A small diameter perforated pipe that allows the bottom of a detention basin, channel or swale to drain.

Many of us believe that all of our trash degrades by some natural mechanism after it has been taken to the landfill or enters the natural environment. It's true that many things that we dispose of are recycled back into the environment.

Often, the best starting point is the maintenance folks"the ones who deal with trash removal. They'll likely be the ones who implement paper recycling, so they'll need to be involved early on.

Decomposed organic material that is produced when bacteria in soil break down garbage and biodegradable trash, making organic fertilizer. Making compost requires turning and mixing and exposing the materials to air.

Mandatory Recycling: Programs which by law require consumers to separate trash so that some or all recyclable materials are recovered for recycling rather than going to landfills.
