Environment Vapor dispersionVariance

Vapor Pressure: A measure of a substance's propensity to evaporate, vapor pressure is the force per unit area exerted by vapor in an equilibrium state with surroundings at a given pressure.

vapor pressure The pressure exerted by a vapor in equilibrium with its solid or liquid phase.
variable Any characteristic or attribute that can be measured.

Vapor Pressure: The pressure, often expressed in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) or pounds per square inch (PSI), that is characteristic at any given temperatures of a vapor in equilibrium with its liquid or solid form.

Vapor Pressure: The partial pressure exerted by the vapor (gas) of a liquid or solid substance under equilibrium conditions. A relative measure of chemical volatility, vapor pressure is used to calculate air-water partition coefficients (i.e.

Isoprene - C5H5, a colorless volatile liquid which is insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, and very reactive because of its low vapor pressure and double bonds.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemical compounds that have a high vapor pressure and low water solubility. Many VOCs are human-made chemicals that are used and produced in the manufacture of paints, pharmaceuticals, and refrigerants.

It is the temperature at which the vapor pressure of a liquid equals the pressure on its surface. If the pressure of the liquid varies, the actual boiling point varies. For water it is 212 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius.

volatile organic chemicals (VOC)
Any organic compound having, at 293.15 K, a vapor pressure of 0.01 kPa or more, or having a corresponding volatility under the particular condition of use.

The temperature at which a liquid changes its phase to a vapor or gas. This is the temperature at which a liquid's vapor pressure is equal to the surrounding atmospheric pressure, so the liquid rapidly volatilizes.

use and which, by a photochemical reaction, will cause atmospheric oxygen to be converted into potential smog-promoting tropospheric ozone under favourable climatic conditions. Some areas classify a substance to be a VOC based on its vapor pressure.
