Aggadah (Hebrew, narrative) is rabbinic teaching which is not halakhah and which stories, legends, history, and witticism.

In the Aggadah, he is seen as the guardian of Israel. He is the head of all the great warring angels who do battle against evil. Michael is often depicted as winged and with unsheathed sword.
