Chalice
As the cup used in Ritual Magick, the Chalice represents the element of Water, and as such, is frequently associated with healing, cleansing, scrying, etc. It is the cup of the High Priestess.

Though some controversy exists as to whether the Grail was a cup or a platter, it is generally depicted in art as a chalice of considerable size and unusual beauty.

According to another legend, Chalice Well, located at the base of the Tor, is said to have been built by the Druids. Its reddish, mineral-laden waters are reputed to have magical powers.

In this sense the crucible in our souls is a chalice, the lower part of which contains and holds a substance or constellation of forces while its upper part is open to universal spiritual influences.

Imagine a scintillating brilliant white Archangel behind you and facing you, holding in their right hand an exquisite silver Chalice. He/she is standing on a Cerulean-blue ocean and dolphins or mermaids are nearby.

With the triple crown and chalice this and similar images seem to identify the Whore with Mother Church. So Figure 4 may actually reinforce the hypothesis that the early Papess cards were meant to represent the Church.
