Daphnomancy
This method of divination required listening to the noise made by laurel branches crackling in an open fire. The louder the crackles, the better the omens. If crackles were absent, the prognostic was bleak.
Daphnomancy
An ancient form of divination by a process of burning laurel. During the burning of a branch in a fire if there is crackling, this is a sign of good luck. But if the crackling is absent, then the prognostication is false. A.G.H.
