Dionysius the Areopagite : is a figure of influence in Christianity, he is sometimes regarded as an "apostolic Father". However this enigmatic figure remains an unknown author.

 


Modern scholarship has settled the fact that Dionysius the Areopagite, although confused with St. Dionysius, or St. Denis the martyr and patron saint of Paris, has no historical connection with him.

The name given to the incorporeal beings of the third circle (Eighth Hierarchy), according to Dionysius the Areopagite (see Angel), the beings of the sphere of Mercury.

Dionysius the Areopagite was the first to introduce the concept "unknown knowing" to the Western World. In areas of the occult and psychic it denotes an additional domain of esoteric knowledge and paranormal communication.
