Hydromancy
From the Greek Hudromanteia (hudro = hydro / manteia = mancy), it is also known as Ydromancy and Hydrascopy. This is a name given to various different methods of predicting the future by means of water or rain.

The divination by water that was stated by Natalius Comes (d. 1852) as being initiated by the ancient sea god Nereus, but presently the term covers a variety of divinations ranging from crystalomancy to radiesthesia.

HYDROMANCY is divination by water including the color, ebb and flow, or ripples produced by pebbles dropped in a pool.
ICHTHYOMANCY is divination using fish.
LAMPADOMANCY is divination using lights or torches.

Hydromancy, is a science of divining by the Water; whereby the Masters thereof judged by the standing or running of the Water.

He is believed to have had a remarkable wheel by means of which he could predict future events, and to have learned hydromancy from the Egyptians.

Divination was widely practiced and authors discuss geomancy, hydromancy, pyromancy, and chiromancy. Divination was considered ignorant and inadvisable rather than evil.

He is a very merry imp, and will help a friend in anything relative to his department; he will shower rain and show the future and the present to those who will resort to hydromancy or divination by water.
