Maleficia
A word carried over into medieval literature from the Latin for 'evil doings' and applied to misfortunes and calamities of all kinds for which no immediate causal explanation might be given.
Maleficia Any malicious acts which were contributed to witches and sorcerers in past times that were believed to cause harm or death to humans, animals or crops.
Vnde maleficis demonum signa preferentibus maligni spiritus inuocati libenter consueuerunt occurrere: & horrenda maleficia simul miranda quedam exhibere Sed aliter malefice atque necromantici demonum inuocatione mirandos producunt effectus.
