Pastos
The inner "bridal chamber" of pagan temples, in which male initiates would mate with the Goddess or female initiates with her divine consort to insure their redemption after death. The chamber was comparable to the abaton or sacred "pit.
The Rosicrucian mystique of the pastos containing the corpse of Christian Rosencreutz- dramatized by MacGregor Mathers in the 5¡=6ú Ceremony of the Golden Dawn- resumes the mystery of this essentially Egyptian formula of the mummified Osiris.
