The Queen of Swords was traditionally known as the widow, crone, or divorcee, the woman "no man would have." Nowadays we see her as a model of self-sufficiency, independence, and high intellect.

QUEEN OF SWORDS. A dark wicked woman. The card also indicates her actions, gossip and calumnies.
KNIGHT. A young, dark man, an enemy. He is also a spy.
KNAVE. A child, an enemy. Bad news. Delay.

One problem with this system is that one can end up saying a Queen of Swords (which intuitively seems like it should be a female) could signify a Scorpio male. Nevertheless, it's an interesting concept.
