The wheel of fortune suspended upon its axis. To the right Anubis, the genius of good ascending; to the left Typhon, the genius of evil descending, the Sphinx is balanced upon the centre of the wheel, holding a sword in its lion claws.

The Wheel of Fortune appears in its traditional form in the Inferno 7:62-97. She is the one who shifts the fortunes of men, allowing first one group to rule and then overthrowing them and allowing another group to take over.

In the Renaissance the Wheel of Fortune was a common symbol for the folly of pride and the insecurity of position.

The tenth numbered major trump is called La Roue de Fortune, the Wheel of Fortune, and portrays a mysterious wheel with eight spokes--the familiar Buddhist symbol of the Cycle of Necessity.

The Wheel of Fortune or the Magician.) There are a wide number of Tarot decks available, and many have differences between them. Generally, however, the suits will represent the four elements, using symbols appropriate to the element.

(The four knight cards have been eliminated in the modern deck.) The Major, or Greater, Arcana consists of 22 cards, each bearing a title and a picture, such as the Hanged Man, the Wheel of Fortune, Judgment, and the Moon, ...

The Majors retain most of the traditional names, with The Punishment replacing The Hanged Man and The Mirror replacing The Wheel of Fortune.
