Corinthian, Ionic and Doric are three classical styles of columns.
Who used them and when?
The Doric and Ionic columns date from the 5th century BC in Greece. Both are represented on the Acropolis in Athens.

column A vertical architectural support, usually topped by a capital.

doric column A Greek-style column with only a simple decoration around the top, usually a smooth or slightly rounded band of wood, stone or plaster.

Trajan Column
The era of Trajan (CE 98-117) played a very important part in the course of Roman art.

column - An upright pillar or post, often used to bear weight. Columns usually consist of a base at the bottom, a round shaft tapering toward the top, and a capital. A half-column is attached to a wall and does not bear weight.
