Conversation-Piece
A painting that shows a group of people, usually relations or close friends, in conversation in a relaxed home environment.
These converging perspective lines lead to a door beyond which we glimpse a lush garden. This is not a random choice of landscape.

Linear Perspective (Converging Lines)
Linear perspective is based on the idea that all lines will converge on a common point on the horizon called the vanishing point.
Relative to the observer, all the converging lines lead toward a single vanishing point at the centre of the composition.
linear perspective: converging real or imagined lines draw the eye to a vanishing point (horizon). Objects located on these lines diminish proportionately as they near the vanishing point.
For instance, we see parallel lines as converging in the distance, although in reality they do not. Stated another way, the lines of buildings and other objects in a picture are slanted inward making them appear to extend back into space.

Cornice : A decorative horizontal outcropping serving to crown a wall or column.
A system used to develop three-dimensional images on a two-dimensional surface; it develops the optical phenomenon of diminishing size by treating edges as converging parallel lines.
Linear perspective foreshortens objects as they recede into the distance with lines converging to a vanishing point. Aerial perspective is based on contrasts of colour and shade, which are stronger in the foreground and fainter in the distance.
