Deconstructivism
is a development of postmodern architecture that began in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It is spearheaded by ideas of fragmentation and a tendency to look like crystals.

 


Though formally similar, the socialist political connotations of Russian constructivism are de emphasized in Hadid's deconstructivism. Rem Koolhaas' projects recall another aspect of constructivism.

Postmodern style is often characterized by eclecticism, digression, collage, pastiche, and irony. Some artistic movements commonly called postmodern are pop art, architectural deconstructivism, magical realism in literature, maximalism, ...
