Egyptian Art (from 3100 BCE)
Egypt is the first civilization with a recognizable style of art.

Egyptian Art: - The art which flourished under the Pharaohs from c.3000 BC until the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great (332 BC). Largely funerary in character, it reflected a rigidly conservative society and religion, and style remained static.

Amarna art - Egyptian art during the time of Pharaoh Akhenaten (1375-1358 BCE), who was a religious reformer. Amarna art is more natural, less stylized than earlier Egyptian art.

The Florentine museums are of great importance, consisting of the archaeological museum of antique bronzes, Egyptian art, and a great number of tapestries.

But art deco movement was influenced by a number of other avant-garde movements, including Cubism, Russian Constructivism, and Italian Futurism. Art deco borrows from Middle East design, Mayan and Egyptian art, and Greek and Roman themes.

Though famous for its extraordinary collection since 1726, it was not until 1793 that the Louvre opened its doors to the public. The collection includes European paintings from 1400-1900, European sculptures from 1100-1900, Asian art, Egyptian art, ...
