Metaphysical Painting (ital. Pittura Metafisica) is an Italian art movement, born in 1917 with the work of Carlo Carrà and Giorgio de Chirico in Ferrara.

Metaphysical paintings are ones whose subject is architecture (classical, rather than modern) done with exaggerated or unusual perspective and imagination.
