RELATIVE POSITION
We view nature from our own eye level. Objects in the foreground appear lower and distant objects appear higher relative to the imaginary line created by our level of sight.

Artists use relative position on the picture plane to create the illusion of space. The higher up the objects are placed in the picture, the farther away we assume them to be. Objects placed lower in the picture appear nearer to us.
CONTRAST - dissimilarity between two or more colors. Value contrast is based on the relative lightness or darkness of the colors being compared; color contrast is based on their relative position on the color wheel.
Cruz-Diez has consistently worked through his career focusing solely on color, line and viewer perception. In many of his works, colors seem to change and present a sensation of movement, changing with the relative position of the viewer.
