BCAA's (branch chain amino acids) - Branch chain amino acids (BCAA's), valine, leucine, and isoleucine, make up approximately 1/3 of muscle protein.

BCAA's (Branch Chain Amino Acids)
Leucine, Valine, and Isoleucine are called "branch chain" aminos due to their molecular structure, and are important essential amino acids well known for their anticatabolic (muscle-saving) benefits.

5 grams of BCAA
2 tbsp natural peanut butter.
Now it gets interesting when we look at fat loss versus muscle building.

The importance of BCAA in determining protein synthesis has led to the frequent suggestion of BCAA supplementation in athletes and there may be some merit to this.

Decrease mental fatigue
Intake before exercise may lead to a lower requirement for muscular repair work and a quicker recovery from strenuous exertion
Caffeine ...

Branched chain amino acids are used as an energy source during exercise. During endurance activity, nitrogen is removed from the BCAA and converted to alanine, ...

is not fully understood, but research suggests it's due to whey's high glycomacropeptide and alpha-lactalbumin content, as well as its high solubility compared to other proteins, and perhaps it's high percentage of branch chain amino acids (BCAA's).
