DIASTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE: Pressure exerted by the blood on the vessel walls when the heart is in its filling stage (bottom number)
DISTAL: Furthest from the attached end of the limb; away from the body.

Diastolic blood pressure- The pressure exerted by the blood on the vessel walls during the resting portion of the cardiac cycle, measured in millimeters of mercury. The diastolic number is the bottom of the fraction.

Diastolic Blood Pressure
It represents the pressure in the arteries when the heart is at rest or in-between beats.

Elevated systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels are associated with a higher risk of developing coronary heart disease (CHD), congestive heart failure, stroke and kidney failure.

There is some data suggesting that high doses increase diastolic blood pressure, whereas low doses fail to have a significant effect on diastolic blood pressure.

The correlation of vital signs before and after brain lesion diagnosis showed that systolic blood pressure levels was more precise in the determination of brain lesions than diastolic blood pressure levels or pulse rate.

Systolic blood pressure: 140 mmHg or greater
Diastolic blood pressure: 90 mmHg or greater
Using Antihypertensive medication
Hypercholesterolemia ...

Researchers at the University of Michigan found that people who did three total-body weight workouts a week for two months decreased their diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) by an average of eight points.

Lower resting systolic and diastolic blood pressure in people with high blood pressure
Increased HDL Cholesterol (the good cholesterol)
Decreased blood triglycerides
Reduced body fat and improved weight control ...

The first describes your systolic blood pressure. This is the pressurewhen your heart is squeezing blood out. The second is your diastolic blood pressure. This is the pressure between heartbeats, when your heart is filling with blood.

Some symptoms include: overtired feeling, loss of appetite, low resting pulse rate, hypotension (low blood pressure) with a corresponding increase in diastolic blood pressure immediately after stress (+100mm GH).

Exercise benefits for hypertensives:
Exercise helps to control blood pressure.
Regular aerobic exercise reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

[2 stars] In a study of people with high blood pressure, vitamin E was significantly more effective than placebo at reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Regular low-intensity exercise also lowers the systolic blood pressure (average reduction of 10 points (mm HG)) and diastolic blood pressure (8 points) in hypertensive patients.

Your systolic blood pressure, the higher number, tells you the pressure in your arteries when your heart is contracting and pumping blood out into the body. Your diastolic blood pressure, the lower number, ...

After systole, the ventricles relax (diastole), arterial pressure declines and the heart refills with blood. The lowest pressure reached during ventricular relaxation represents the diastolic blood pressure.

second measurement is the diastolic reading and represents the force inside the blood vessels between beats of the heart (that is while the heart is resting). The recorded measurement is written as systolic blood pressure/diastolic blood pressure or ...
