Kickboards These are training equipments which help improve your kicking power. These are gripped with both the hands when training.
Kickboard - Small foam board used for short sprints to develop leg power and speed when swimming. Held under the chest so that the arms are not involved in the swimming stroke.
Not all kickboards are created equal: The Tyr StreamLine Training Board ($15, TYR) is contoured, keeping your arms in a natural swimming position (meaning less shoulder stress while you work your legs).
4x50 balance drill: Scissors kick with arms extended in front of you (without a kickboard). Your head should be in the water and turned to the side to breathe. Consciously press your upper chest into the water to bring your hips up.
