Sitting on an exercise bench, hold a barbell at shoulder height with your hands shoulder-width apart (A). Press the weight straight overhead so that your arms are almost fully extended (B).

Sit on bench grasp dumbbells lightly. Start with dumbbells at shoulder level press upward bringing weights together. Lower to original position and repeat.

Military Presses (Seated):
Your target zone are the Front Delts. Your supporting and secondary muscles are your side and rear delts, triceps and traps. Sit on a bench with your back supported.

Standing Military Press Against A Rack
This exercise eliminates cheating while performing the military press, it also keeps you in a straight line. We tax the front and side delts during this movement.

The best bet would be to stick to the basics - remember dead lifts, dumbbell presses, chins, squats, military presses and heavy bicep curls will never fail.

Seated Barbell Press (also know as the "Military Press")
This is a basic shoulder exercise that works the anterior (front) delts and the triceps. It also works the upper chest and upper back as secondary muscles.

Use light weights and high repetitions.

These would then include barbell bench press and its' variations, military press, behind the neck shoulder press, barbell bicep curls, lying tricep extension, and the like.

Bent leg sit-ups or partial sit-ups (curl-ups) when you have acute back pain.
Lifting both legs while lying on your back (leg lifts).
Lifting heavy weights above the waist (standing military press or bicep curls).
Toe touches while standing.

Triceps - The back of the upper arm. Exercises include pushing movements like push-ups, dips, triceps extensions, triceps kick-backs, and overhead (French) presses. The triceps also come into play during the bench press and military press.
