Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat on the floor (a). Brace your abs, sit up, and punch across your body six times with one arm (b). Return to start; repeat on opposite side.

The situp test is one of the standard tests used to assess abdominal, core and hip flexor strength and endurance during military (Army, Navy, Air Force), law enforcement (police and firefighter), and other common physical fitness tests.

Situps (Frog style):
Lie on your back on the floor, hands at the sides of your head. Bring your knees up while keeping your feet flat on the floor. Let each knee fall out to the side, down to the floor, or as far as your flexibility allows.

Should I do lots of situps to reduce fat around my middle?
No. Exercising the area from which you want to lose fat is called "spot toning" or "spot reduction". Spot toning is a myth.

This exercise is traditionally done with the feet under the rollers and with a full-situp. You will find that by trying this variation, you will have less involvement of the hip flexor muscles and more emphasis on the abs.

hi im a 44 yr.young mom whom loves exercises. My main problem is abdomen. Even though i do situp and pushup my stomache muscles don't seem to contract. what could i be doing wrong?
