TARGET MUSCLES: PECTORALIS MAJOR, STERNAL
PUSH-UPS-
Lie on the floor on stomach with legs straight and together, on the balls of feet. Bend elbows and place palms on the floor beside shoulders.

This muscle is composed of a sternal head and a clavicular head.The fibers originate from the clavicle, sternum and upper ribs and insert on the humerous. When contracted these muscles cause flexion,extension and adduction of the shoulder joint.

Occupational therapists (OTs) are professionals who teach cardiac patients how to complete self-care and functional tasks while following sternal precautions to protect their chest incision after surgery.

The chest for example is made up of the sternal pectoralis (lower chest) and the clavicular pectoralis (upper chest). The upper portion of the chest has nerves stimulating it that are not involved in the contraction of the lower portion.

Flyes are used to work the muscles of the upper body, primarily the sternal head of the pectoralis major.

Having taken a history I worked through the priority system which led me to a correction of pectoralis major sternal/liver of 5-6 rib where I massaged front and back ribs.

It always gets very sore and the thing I notice most of all is that it dramatically affects my exercise performance in exercises like Lat machine pull-downs to the sternal pectoralis [regardless if I use a supinated and/or prone hand grip], Pull-ups, ...
