That well-known V-taper is built through specific training. Some gifted lifters will build the V-taper quickly without much focused work and just need enhancing, while others will need to specifically zone in and target those areas that create it.
The V-Taper creates the illusion of a much larger than life appearance and you cannot achieve that look without developing the lat muscles.
A more pronounced v-taper shaped back will give the optical illusion that the waist is smaller and the shoulders larger, which are important traits of a good physique.
It simulates a pulling movement like the chinup but also provides constant tension in the pullover's contracted position—something you can't achieve with free weights. This builds your lats so your body's V-taper looks wider from the front.
