Intercoat Adhesion of Paints
When mildew has grown on a painted surface, a home owner may be inclined to improve the appearance by applying a coat of paint directly over the mildewed surface. The approach is not a permanent cure.

 


Such soils ought to be regularly summer-fallowed once in six, or at least once in eight years, even when they are comparatively in a clean state, as they contract a sourness and adhesion from wet ploughing, ...

In dry weather, pre-wet the joints to improve adhesion of the mortar (image 2). For wet mortar, add water to the ready-mix mortar and push it into the cracks between the pavers using a bricklayer's trowel.

'We need some adhesion beforehand so we do what is called a 'splash coat'.' This involves splashing render onto the wall so that it roughens the surface. A butyl liner will be glued in place to form a waterproof membrane for the pond.
