after-ripening The seed maturation process that must be completed before germination can occur.
aggergate fruit A group of small fruits derived from several ovaries within a single flower.

It is important to cut the seed stalk at the base at the end of December, put the seed stalks in a hessian bag and store them in a cool, dry place for a year. There is a long after-ripening period with the seed.
