This bacterial disease occurs wherever cucurbits are grown, but is especially troublesome in humid areas. Cucumbers, muskmelons, and summer squash are most susceptible.

Rectangular and square gardens are the easiest to measure. Ask your assistant to help you measure all four sides of the garden with a long tape measure, and add the measurements to the correspond-ing boundaries on your sketch.

A rectangular layout is the most efficient in terms of space and ease of working it. Some people modify this to be more like a curvy "S" which is very pleasant and is again easy to work.

A rectangular bed works well in most gardens. Walls built of local stone are a good choice, but bricks will work equally well. Dry stone walls are particularly suitable, as plants can be inserted in gaps between the courses.

The triangular technique can be used for temporary effect with annual flowers. Arrange three to five bright red geraniums in a triangle; plant deep blue salvia to rise from the center and white alyssum at the base.

Glue the rectangular piece of the hat onto the end of a white body. Glue the circle into place, securing the bottom half on the back of the body. Punch a hole in the top of the hat with the 1/8-inch punch.

They have an elongated oval shape and a triangular pattern on the back where the wings fold. They're typical of other "true bugs" like the box elder bug, squash bug and stink bug. Their young are similar in appearance, minus the wings.

Having a few smaller beds that are kidney bean shape, or oval, are more eye appealing than having one long rectangular bed.
They are also easier to maintain.
Shape can also be defined by the types of plants you choose.

When deciding on the shape and size for a supported raised bed, keep in mind that some edging materials only allow angular corners. Prepare the soil as before, but place the frame around the bed before raking the soil into shape.

Draw in elements that are easy to position using a compass this includes rectangular or circular flowers beds, garden shed or pond.

If the lawn will be for recreation and entertaining, it should have a large, open area, such as that provided by circular and rectangular shapes.
