Apical meristems contain several layers. Depending upon the type of plant, the number of layers varies. The tunica is the outermost layer with the innermost layers being the corpus.

apical meristem -- Group of cells at the growing tip of a branch or root. It divides cells to create new tissues.
archegonium -- The organ on a gametophyte plant which produces the egg cell, and nurtures the young sporophyte.

Apical meristem - Meristems located at the terminal shoot of a plant, the points at which upward growth happens.
Apoplast - A route of transport within a plant consisting of the extra cellular space made up of cell walls.

apical meristem A region of actively dividing cells at the tip of a growing stem or root.
arboretum An area devoted to specimen plantings of trees and shrubs.
asexual reproduction See vegetative propagation.

One of the best things you can do for your herbs is to trim the top bud, or apical meristem. This will cause the plant to bush out more and produce more leaves. It will also limit the height of the herb.

Auxins are produced in the tips of plants, called the apical meristem. Cytokinins are produced in plant roots.
Tips
Other plants that benefit from hormone application are heliotrope, mandevilla and bougainvillea.
