Arbor Day just might be our most convenient holiday. You can celebrate it any day you plant a tree.

In 2006 the Arbor Day Foundation completed an extensive updating of U.S. Hardiness Zones based upon data from 5,000 National Climatic Data Center cooperative stations across the continental United States.

Today, Arbor Day still offers us the chance to work with friends and family to plant something to be enjoyed by generations to come.

The third Monday in March is the day we celebrate Arbor day in Arkansas. Arbor Day was started back in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, who proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees.

It seems that different states can't agree to a universal Arbor Day, but more than likely the day exists in your individual state or country, at some point in this month.... Plant a tree!
Although we think of this as a rainy month, it can fool us.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day or Arbor Day than by planting a tree?

In 2006, the National Arbor Day Foundation created another unofficial map in response to climate change.

April, Last Friday - Arbor Day - It's also called the "Tree Planter's" holiday.
September 13 - National Peanut Day - it's the P-nuttiest day of the year.
October 1 - World Vegetarian Day - we always thought people should eat more veggies.

Some places devise their own gardening zone maps, such as the Arbor Day Foundation and Sunset Gardening Publications.

New York's is the sugar maple and Pennsylvania's is the Eastern Hemlock. There is currently no "official" national tree, but the National Arbor Day Foundation named the oak the people's choice for national tree this spring.
