Auxin

auxin
One of several hormones occurring in plants which regulates certain aspects of growth. They can be produced synthetically and are sometimes used commercially as herbicides or to promote flowering or other types of plant growth.

auxins search for term- growth promoting hormones that cause cell elongation, and are responsible for many developmental responses including phototropism.

Auxin- A natural hormone that regulates plant growth, generally identified with ß-indolylacetic acid (IAA), a heteroauxin.
Basalt- A dark gray to black colored, dense to fine-grained igneous rock.

Auxins: A natural or artificial substance controlling the growth of shoots, roots, etc.
Axil: The upper angle found between a leaf and stem, or a main stem and secondary stem, often where a new shoot appears.

Auxins - Plant hormones that have a variety of effects on the cellular responses of plants. For example development of leaves and fruit, also formation of secondary growth.

Auxin A chemical that stimulates plant growth.
Awn A bristle-like appendage.
Axil The angle between a petal and a stem; where buds occur above a leaf; the point above a leaf scar.

Auxin - classification of plant hormones; Auxins are responsible for foliage and root elongation.

B
Bacteria - very small, one-celled organisms that have no chlorophyll.

auxin One of the best known and most important plant hormones. Most abundantly produced in a plant's actively growing tips. Generally stimulates growth by cell division in the tip region and by cell elongation lower down the shoot.

AUXIN: A hormone that controls plant growth.
AWL-SHAPED: A narrow leaf which tapers to a stiff point.
AXIL: Axillary bud occurrs in the axil or angle of leaf and stem; and axillary shoot which grows from the axil or angle of leaf and stem ...

Auxins are produced in the tips of plants, called the apical meristem. Cytokinins are produced in plant roots.
Tips
Other plants that benefit from hormone application are heliotrope, mandevilla and bougainvillea.

The swollen areas on the truncheons are where plants store the auxins responsible for sending out new roots. Whenever you take a cutting, look for these areas. The best place to cut is at the node just below the current season's growth.

When a tree is pruned, it releases hormones, or auxins, that encourage new growth at lateral buds along the branches.

Auxins (hormones produced in the growing tips) turn stem growth upwards. When tomato plants are hung, new stem growth makes a U-turn upwards. In Colorado's windy weather, the weight of the stems in windy weather can pull or break off the stem.

Apical buds produce auxins, hormones that suppress the growth of the lateral buds below the tip, an effect botanists call apical dominance.

zinc - A mineral which aids in cell division, as well as enzyme and auxin productions and utilization. Small, thin, yellow leaves as well as low yields are symptoms of zinc deficiencies.

Take the growing tip between your forefinger and thumbnail and snip the growing tip off using your nail as your blade. Pinching out sweet peas will force the plant hormones called auxins to move to the side or auxiliary tips.

Through the use of agars and auxins, absolute sanitation, proper temperature and lights, the piece of wood is induced to grow into multiple "seedling-like" growths with no roots. This tiny juvenile wood is then rooted.
