The parrot's beak flower is one of the most exotic, beautiful plants you can grow in your garden. It is an evergreen perennial that sports blooms in shades of orange, red and yellow.

The strong beak of the woodpecker pecks holes in rotting wood and picks insects from beneath tree bark.
A suet cage opens like a book for filling with nutritious, high-calorie tallow and suet, then closes and locks for hanging in trees.

If we can look beyond the damage they cause, we can marvel about how the bird's beak and tongue work together to find food. First, the woodpecker uses its strong, pointed beak to chisel insects from the wood.

The curve of the hooked beak of the New Holland Honeyeater is duplicated in many native plants, particularly proteas and Kangaroo Paws.

Adult weevils have a long snout-like beak and knobbed antennae. The 1/4" long insects are brownish black with white patches near the end of the wing covers.

Birds eat the berries and then the seed either passes, unaffected, through the bird's system, or the birds will rub off the offending sticky substance from their beak onto the branch they're perched on.

A native of South Africa, bird of paradise resembles the head of a bird with a long beak. These tropical flowers appear at the ends of long stalks, and consist of 3 orange sepals and 3 bluish-purplish petals.

They are dark brown to steely gray in color with patches of white or gray. They have four humps on their wing covers (elytra) and measure 4-6 mm in length. The beak or snout is 1/4 of the body length, with the mouthparts located at the end.

Heliconia caribaea are native to Barbados. They are repeat bloomers, from late spring into December. It's common names are Lobster Claw and Parrot Beak, for obvious reasons.

Now that you know how this puppet goes together, keep in mind that the head and mouth fabric does not need to be circular, and the top of the head does not need to be flat. You can make a beak or nose, or sew the head into a cone or other shape.
