The first consistent mahogany red and yellow bicolor gaillardia flower. The globe-shaped blooms are primarily double and can cover the plant throughout the growing season.

BICOLOR -- A flower with petals which bear two distinctly different colors.
BIENNIAL -- A plant which completes its life cycle in two seasons. Compare annual and perennial.
BIGENERIC -- A hybrid produced by crossing two different genera.

Bicolor A plant or flower in two colors.
Biennial A plant that usually only lives two years, normally producing flowers and seed the second year; a plant that grows foliage the first year and flowers the second year.

BICOLOR
The bicolors, with mild and sweet yellow flesh shot through with veins of red, are a visually stunning subset of the yellow/orange category. A must-have for the tomato salad, I say.

Exotic and showy, Caladiums are grown for their colorful heart or arrow shaped leaves. The leaves are decorated with colorful shading, veins, margins, or markings.

Make a bold statement with just a few caladiums in your garden. Known for their multicolor leaves, often with varying shades of pink, they definitely add color to a flower bed.

Acidanthera bicolor (Gladiolus callianthus). Pure white, 3-inch, star-shaped flowers with mahogany-blushed throats have a delightfully clean, sweet fragrance.

Caladium bicolor
Frost tender perennial tubers. They like heat, plenty of moisture and humidity and bright indirect light. Plant tuber, knobby side up, 2" below surface of rich, well draining soil.
Feed every 6 weeks with a liquid 6-6-6 fertilizer.

If flower buds are drilled with small holes, rose curculio (Merhynchites bicolor) may be the culprit. A weevil, it chews into buds to feed or lay eggs. Larvae gnaw the bloom as they develop, then drop to the ground to pupate.

The plant: This hybrid tea rose is known for its fragrant bicolor flowers. Flowers are creamy white with magenta pink edges. It is an excellent repeat bloomer with abundant flowers in spring and fall. Plants grow to three to five feet tall.

Columbines are known for both single and bicolored patterns which encompass many vibrant colors, ranging from white and light yellows, light pinks, firey reds and oranges, to deep purples and blues.

bicolor) is quite rugged and especially easy to grow. This species is native to the coast of southern France and is hardy to at least 18°F. The vigorous, branched evergreen shrub grows upwards to 12 feet tall and nearly as wide.

For the broadest range of colors and two-toned flowers, called bicolors, buy seeds. Sow them indoors 8-12 weeks before the last frost.

When it comes to marigolds, look for Aurora seeds - they're your best bet, giving you compact plants and double flowers in colors that include gold, yellow and a bicolor that's red and yellow.

Some varieties offer extra appeal with bicolored flowers or white-variegated foliage. As its name implies, the flowers are only open in the morning. The vine climbs to 15 feet or more and grows best in a sunny spot.

Although red and scarlet are the most popular colors, the flowers may be pink, white, salmon, apricot, rose, bicolor or picotee (petals with a different edge color) and in both single and double forms.

Flowers come in a range of colors, from white and orange to claret-red, bronze and bicolors. The large seeds are easy to handle; thin seedlings to stand 2- to 4-feet apart, depending on the cultivar.

Flower blooms are available in many colors, including white, orange, yellow, pink, blue and bicolors. Blooming in August, Gladiolus open their florets from the bottom first and progress up to the top.

Columbines produce large, showy blooms of single and bicolor patterns on airy plants with blue-green foliage from late spring to early summer. Colors include shades of yellow, white, pink, blue, purple and combinations.

Stem Tubers usually grow underground but have buds or "eyes" from which spring new stems, such as in Solanum tuberosum (Irish potato) or Caladium bicolor (caladium), see Caladium hortulanum .
Corms are solid masses of stem tissue.

florida bicolor is sulphur-coloured with a deep mauve boss of stamens. C. macropetala 'Markham's Pink' has outer petals that are reddish-purple and a narrow pale lilac margin. C. macropetala 'Maidwell Hall' is a blue pendulous version. C.

Monkshood or Aconitum is a wonderful plant for full sun or light shade and I particularly like the old-fashioned bicolor form. The fall blooming varieties bring fantastic blue shades to the fall garden.

Now you can find them white, pink and bicolored as well. If you are planning them in landscape check the height of the Daffodils you choose, as they come anywhere from 4 to 20 inches tall.
