Also add bone and blood meal (1 tablespoon each for every clove planted).
Each bulb is made up of a bunch of cloves. Plant each clove (do not remove the skin) pointed end up (root side down)on 6 inch centers, 3-4 inches deep.

Blood Meal
Step 1
Fill the shallow containers with enough blood meal to cover the bottoms of the containers and place the containers around the base of plants that rabbits find appealing.

Blood Meal -- This is a concentrated organic manure. It is high in nitrogen and must be kept in an airtight container as it is hygroscopic (attracts water). When this happens,
some of its nitrogen value is lost.

Dried blood meal. Very water-soluble: must be re-applied after a rain. Also is a very good source of nitrogen.

Blood meal is dried, powdered blood collected from cattle slaughterhouses. It is a rich source of nitrogen, so rich, in fact, that it may burn plants if used in excess.

Blood meal scattered around the garden is another good deterrent.
Since deer don't like capsaicin, the ingredient that makes peppers hot, a spray made from chili peppers deters deers.

1 part blood meal
1 part Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate)
Combine ingredients and apply 1 cup of mixture for each foot (30 cm) of shrub height. Lightly scratch the mixture into the soil using caution not to harm the roots. Water thoroughly.

Bone, fish and blood meal may actually attract some pests to the garden, such as raccoons, squirrels and coyotes. It's best to use these fertilizers only in fenced areas, as a single raccoon can devastate a garden overnight.

Baby powder, blood meal and lion feces have been tried with mixed results. They do not weather well and need to be re-applied every 5 days or after any rain or dew.

Successful homemade repellents include a dusting of baby powder, cayenne pepper, or blood meal on vegetables and corn ears. In a small garden, cover individual corn ears or melons with bags taped shut.

Another option for keeping deer away include spreading blood meal around your garden. These dried flakes of blood are collected from meat-packing plants and are sold commercially for this purpose.

Some are animal in origin - including manure and blood meal - while others are vegetable-based - such as cottonseed meal and alfalfa pellets.

The nutrients in organic plant foods, such as compost, manure, bone meal, and blood meal are not readily available to plants. These materials must breakdown, which make them slow acting.

They respond well to blood meal, but several gardeners have also attracted wild animals to their pansy plantings by using it. If you want to use blood meal, incorporate it into the soil lightly.

Natural or organic fertilizers such as bone meal, fish emulsion and blood meal are also available; however, these usually lack enough of the basic nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for healthy growth.

TO SPEED UP THE COMPOSTING PROCESS and increase the decomposition rate you can add extra nitrogen, fishmeal or blood meal, to your layers. Using a metal rod to make holes in your pile will increase the amount of oxygen and stimulate aerobic activity.

In the fall, apply bulb fertilizer or blood meal on top of the soil where your Easter Lily bulb is resting. Carefully, work the fertilizer in without disturbing the bulbs.

This lump of new, coarse material will take a while to decompose, but there's a trick to speeding the process — blood meal. A cup or so accelerates decomposition.

Nitrogen
Ammonium nitrate, blood meal or bone meal can supply the nitrogen needed. About 1/3 cup per 25 square feet of compost is about right. Green manure is full of nitrogen so get all of those grass clippings in your compost piple.

Typical ingredients include cow manure, bat guano, worm casings, fish emulsion, bone meal, and blood meal. Often, fertilizers are formulated for a specific plant or type of plant.

If you want a more natural approach, try organic fertilizers, such as bone or blood meal, manure or cottonseed meal. These are derived from the remains or by-products of once-living organisms.

You can add individual amendments, like green sand or blood meal, if that's what your soil test recommends. But if you're plants aren't showing signs of nutrient deficiencies, a general purpose fertilizer will to the job.

Smell of success. Strongly scented materials like cayenne peper and blood meal may keep chipmunks, rabbits, gophers and woodchucks at bay.

Add water at twice the amount recommended and apply twice as often as directed on the label. Blood Meal is also helpful.

Full sun is required for photosynthesis. Semi-shade can be tolerated during the hot summer season.

Nitrogen Deficiency
Symptom: Lawn is dying at tips. Leaves turn yellow or pale green.
Natural remedies: Apply blood meal, feather meal, cotton seed meal, corn gluten meal, or cottonseed meal.

A good mix for reseeding bare spots on lawns is:
5 parts sand
2 parts sterilized compost
1 part blood meal
1 part grass seed.

Organic Fertilizers
Organic fertilizers come from plants, animals or their waste products. Organic nutrients can include cow, sheep, poultry and horse manure. Bone meal, blood meal, compost and green manures also provide nutrients.

Mix nitrogen fertilizer into the soil. You may use either chemical fertilizer or blood meal and bone meal. Prepackaged potting soil already contains plant nutrients available for the first six months of plant growth.

If a soil test shows a deficiency, fertilize with a granular commercial fertilizer in early spring as new growth appears and then again just before bloom. Water soluble and organic fertilizers such as compost, aged cow manure, blood meal or fish ...
