Bordeaux Mixture:
1 Dissolve 100 gram of builders' (hydrated) lime in half a standard (plastic) bucket of water. (About 5 litres).
2 Dissolve 100 grams copper sulphate (available at garden centres) in a separate half bucket of water.

Bordeaux Mixture - This is used for controlling fungi in your garden and is classified as a fungicide. It is used in vineyards quite often and helps with some vegetable garden problems.
Bordeaux mixture is primarily a fungicide that controls bacterial leaf spots, blights, anthracoses, downy mildews and cankers. It also repels many insects. The compound is labeled for use on many vegetables, tree fruits and nut crops.
In the fall, Bordeaux Mixture 10-10-100 or fixed copper may be applied immediately after leaf fall. Fall applications are used in severely infected orchards. Always follow label instructions.
Sulfur, lime-sulfur, and bordeaux mixture-a combination of copper sulfate and lime-have been used as fungicides for a hundred years or more. These are all toxic to mammals, so avoid ingesting them and wear protective clothing when applying them.
In milder, humid areas where bacterial canker can be a problem, apply a single spray of Bordeaux mixture or copper fungicide on the trunk and limbs when leaves drop in autumn.
