Tidying borders
Tidy borders by removing overwintering weeds. You can remove dead stems and leaves from plants at the same time. This improves their appearance and reduces the risk of them sheltering pests and perpetuating diseases.

Trim off all dead flower heads - especially marigolds which can look very messy if left to rot on the plant.  In general you should not let your annuals go on too long - pull them out before they go all straggly.

There are a few general guidelines for growing orchids in the house. Good lighting is essential. They like an east or west facing window, but shaded from direct sunlight.

Well-groomed borders and edges are a landscape's finishing touches, and no tool achieves that faster than a string trimmer. No wonder it ranks second only to the lawn mower in popularity with gardeners.

In perennial borders that need consistent watering, the top half of the iris rhizome should be left exposed so that it will not rot from being overwatered. Don't plant other perennials so close that they crowd the rhizomes and hold in moisture.
