BOSS -- A ring of prominent and decorative stamens.
BOTANICAL NAME -- The Latin scientific name of a plant is its botanical name.

 


All have a dramatic boss of stamens in the middle. After flowering they form beautiful seed heads. Some clematis are called 'Old Man's Beard' because of the seed heads' soft and feathery appearance.

According to the Tree Boss website, the root ball of a tree with a trunk diameter of only 3 inches can weigh over 1000 lbs.
