Alternaria leaf blotch is most likely to occur on 'Delicious' strains and should not be confused with frogeye leaf spot, captan spot, or with'Golden Delicious'necrotic leaf blotch.
Moisten soil with fungicide solution of benomyl or captan. This is to prevent fungal infections. Allow soil to drain. Cut healthy leaves from the center of the mother plant with a stem 1 1/2 to 2 inches long.

One can use fungicide during damp weather - captan, copper, or lime sulfur are most effective when you follow the instructions carefully. One can also use baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) at a rate of one teaspoon to one gallon.
If a fungus causes a leaf spot on your strawberry plants, and leaf removal has been ineffective or isn't an option, spray the plants with a fungicide such as Captan. Always follow label instructions when applying pesticides.
(Don't confuse seeds that have been inoculated with Rhizobium bacteria with seeds that have been treated with Captan or other toxic pesticides.
Store them in a dry area where the temperature will remain at about 40 degrees F.
