Gardening CareCarnivorous

Fire ants are carnivores -- they are fond of meat, fats and grease. Fire ants feed on insects and other animals unlucky enough to cross their paths as well as grease drippings both outside (i.e. around the barbecue) and inside of buildings.

The last soup I'm featuring is one that vegetarians and carnivores can both enjoy by simply modifying the stock. Split pea soup is delicious prepared with either a chicken or vegetable stock.

As with other animals, insects are divided into two large groups: the herbivores (those that eat foliage) and the carnivores (which eat other insects).

When most people think of carnivores, they picture frightening creatures with large teeth and claws attacking their prey, and surprisingly, many carnivorous plants live up to this image.

Your terrarium can be put together using something as small as a gallon jar for a single plant, or as large as the biggest aquarium you can afford if you'd like to create an elaborate carnivore community.

Be creative but a rule of thumb is never add meat, bones, carnivore feces or human feces to your pile. You will find out that orange peels take forever to break down so keep citrus peels out as well.

Carnivores receive their dose of sulfur by eating the animals that ate the plants that absorbed the sulfur. Sulfur is used in the production of amino acids and proteins. However, too much of even a necessary mineral can have negative effects.

The flowers have a beautiful perfume and look strangely like little carnivores. They grow easily from seed, but because they can take up to ten years to flower and fruit, and because the trees are quite rare, the seeds are difficult to come by.
