Two-spotted mites cause chlorotic stippling of leaves giving the appearance that a fine tan to yellow sand has been sprinkled on the foliage. As populations increase, webbing is often spun over foliage and flowers.

 


Symptoms of apple chlorotic leaf spot virus may include chlorotic leaf spots, leaf distortion, chlorotic rings and line patterns, reduced leaf size, and stunting.

May be chlorotic, curl or have spots.
Phosphorus. Stunted extremely dark green leaves. Purplish to reddish veins, leaves or stems. Flowers and fruits late.
Calcium. Deformed or failed terminal buds and root tips.

A fungal disease, downy mildew produces slightly yellow or chlorotic lesions of irregular shape on the top surface of the leaves and purplish sporulation on the underside.

Avoid plants which have yellow or chlorotic leaves, brown leaf margins, wilted or water soaked foliage, spots or blotches and spindly growth.

Chlorosis (Yellowing Leaves): It's not uncommon for blueberry leaves to begin to yellow or look chlorotic. Although this is usually a sign of iron deficiency, it is probably not caused by a lack of iron in the soil.

In severe cases, the chlorotic leaves become necrotic and the leaves turn from yellow to brown but only in the young leaves but is progressing downward. I suspect it was iron deficiency so I give it a regular spray of chelated Iron.

While most acid loving plants become chlorotic (yellow-green leaves) without a low enough pH, the Hydrangea's flowers bloom pink with no visible discoloration in the leaves making it a good indicator of the pH in your garden soil.

Infested plants are seemingly chlorotic (turning yellow), causing some plant varieties to have a silvery appearance. Spraying for this pest with insecticidal soaps or horticultural oils when the pest is in its immature (scale) stage can help.

The result of spider mite infestation are tiny dots or stippling that give the leaves a bronze, chlorotic, grayish mottled look. Eventually the leaves will start to turn yellow/brown along the veins and drop.

Powdery mildew can also be severe on older leaves or plant parts. Leaves that are heavily infected with powdery mildew may become chlorotic and senesce early.
