These test kits generally consist of a test tube, some testing solution and a color chart. You put a sample of your soil in the tube, add a few drops of test solution, shake it up and leave it for an hour or so to settle.

 


Normally, your pH soil testing kit will have a container, a testing solution, and a color chart. To conduct your soil test, the process is generally that you scoop up some garden soil and place it in the container.

Starter kit comes with 3 reusable stems, 3 single-use meters and a color chart. About $10 each.
Refill packs contain 3 meters and a color chart. About $7.00 each.
A SunStick for houseplants is in the works.

To determine the soil's pH, compare the color of the water with the color chart along the side of the vial. Sometimes the color change is subtle.
